Steam bath

In contrast to the dry heat of a sauna, the humidity in a steam bath can be up to 100%. The temperature is lower compared to a sauna, and generally lies between 40 °C and 55 °C. When laying tiles and slabs, the major requirement is that moisture damage that can result from these special room conditions is prevented.

For this reason, a vapour brake or vapour barrier and a bonded seal tailored to the load are absolutely necessary. The cover should also be sloping or strongly curved and have a surface that is as smooth as possible. This allows the condensed water to drain off in a controlled manner and reduces further risks of possible damage caused by permanent exposure to moisture, such as mould.

This can be solved in the same way on the floor using a floor drain with the appropriate gradient. Our MUREXIN Uniboard provides you with additional design options for steam baths. Thanks to its durability and ease of processing, it has been used for many years in private and public steam baths to build curved banks, shelves or other features.
